i dreamed of this, often, when the four were all still at home
but we never would've gambled on the white...heavenly as it is...a little more navy, some good sturdy canvas (there's cream, at least), something to withstand a pack of happy ruffians...
i love the lights for reading, and imagine a small stacks of books at the end of each rumpled comforter...
If I ever become wealthy enough to have a ski or beach house I'm going to create a dorm rooms for boys and girls so that lots of family members and friends can visit, and there will be room for the kids. Besides, in a vacation home it's kind of like going to summer camp.
Micah summed uo my thoughts completely. Too perfect. I always wonder why hostels aren't popular stateside -- would be worth whipping up something like this and trying it. I stayed in something somewhat similar in Stockholm.

oh, i want that now! i'm facing the prospect of moving to a studio and i've started plotting a creative sleeping-space/storage solution.

Sarah- I can see you turning this into something amazing!
Victoria- I don't think the 'rents would've made the white gamble either. As it is we had free-to-beat-up pine panelling in all its 1970's glory!

BDV...you're right! Smelly towels, underwear in the most unfortunate of locations, sand EVERYWHERE.
Michus...But which of us would survive?
LA...the two oldest boys get those, my sister an I are rewarded the downwind bunk.

Nick, it does have a very Swedish look to it doesn't it? I wouldn't be surprised if it's where it is from. They are such great thinkers/planners!
