Venice is a Fish

I once read a book, Venezia è un pesce, where each sense was used to describe different aspects of Venice and the Venetians.  The dialect, the sound of shoes on the bridges, the taste of the rare dishes you will only find down the dankest of alleys, etc etc.  Shame I've never been.

Here Fanny Ardant reads on one of the beautiful canals.

Photographer, regrettably, unknown.

gorgeous picture, outstanding integration w text. I'm sure to think of François Truffaut whenever I look at it, so I'll probably file it that way.

If you haven't already, you need to read Joseph Brodsky's Watermark, which made me fall in love with Venice. Not that I've ever affirmed that love by visiting, but I hope, one day!

I need to get it, it sounds wonderful. Once I finish, we'll plan our trip!
