Love in a Cold Climate

What bliss!  That bridge reminds me of the bridge in Brief Encounter which I saw this weekend for the first time and fell madly in love with.  The tension..egads!

Coward's project with Lean remains the latter's flat-out masterpiece and certainly a magnificently inspired adaptation. "Tension" is precisely the word for this ruthlessly invaded, forbidden romance. Oh, D-H, you expand one's sense of it with this posting.

Terrific photograph of an underrated (and thankfully unspoilt) part of the country. Brief Encounter is sublime.

Laurent, I dare say my nails were chewed to stubs, poor things.

Anthony, I'm desperate to go to Derbyshire!

Oh, Brief Encounter....how I love that film. Lucky you, seeing it for the first time

Buried deep in Netflix Instant view, I found a marvelous little compilation of three Coward shorts, 'Meet Me Tonight'. Totally different than Brief, but oh, what wonderful fluff---the last one, with Valerie Hobson, is pure delight.

Speaking of bliss, my verification word for the previous comment was 'menprefru', my favorite verification word since 'trango' some months ago (obviously a dance originally performed by Argentian cross dressers...)

DED...those Coward shorts sound amazing! I'm gonna look it up soon (as in right now). And I think I'm going to write a short story about Trango-ing, ah Buenos Aires, how I miss thee.
