Would you like to know what I love almost as much as the 1920's and 30's? Movies from the 70's set in the 1920's/30's. Murder on the Orient Express, Great Gatsby, Cabaret and as of Sunday Death on the Nile. (Women in Love and Bonnie and Clyde count too even though they are made in the late 60's) Something about the glam of the 70's mixed with the glamour of that time is just too good to be true. In a future life when I'm a famous film maker I'd like all of my films to have this look.
Below is a shot from our not so deadly Nile Cruise last year. Well our attempt at a cruise on a flaccid day.

I love the Great Gatsby! Such a great movie. I feel like I'm stating the obvious but I'm going to make this post nevertheless!
When you and Nathanial come East you should come to Newport where it was filmed and we can have a Gatsby picnic!
book club! i'm re-reading the great gatsby (next) and i know one or two others...
Actually we would really LOVE to take a day trip to Newport - Rachel and Stephan are coming out too and it would be fun if we all went out for a day!
My goodness, what adventures you have!
Death on the Nile is one of my absolute favorites. No one does high-strung crazy like Mia!
Jay have you seen every mom's favorite (and mine), Widow's Peak? She's at her best!
Don't forget "Paper Moon" !!!
Daniel -Like most things, I'm beginning to realize, you are absolutely right about this too! Do you think that there's a decade being referenced now in film?
It's tough to say! I feel like I'm the only human being in the universe who's disconcerted that 'Avatar' is most likely going to pick up the Best Picture Oscar!
Besides that, I'm not sure I'm the best judge, but several movies I've been seeing lately seem to be going back to the Great Depression to WWII era. Am I just dillusional and hopeful?
