! Thanks for the shout out -- and I absolutely never tire of Balthus. What is it about him? The pictures are really rather pedestrian on the surface of it, and I don't think the interest comes only from his outre life. And the paintings have a presence in person that blows any reproduction out of the water, sort of like Courbet or Watteau. Odd bedfellows, but the only ones whose works elicit the same response in me.
Don't you love Balthus? So much of his work is so subversive.
Nick- I've never been face to face with one of his works, but now I'm going to search out where to do it! Thanks for the idea...and your wonderful blog of course.
