Unless you're like me, and whilst breathing your last breath last week watched the entire season of Downton Abbey illegally online, I'd tell you to stay in and watch the premier episode on PBS tonight.
Cancel all plans (unless they're with me), tell Cook to prepare you a sandwich then let her retire early, and put on your dressing gown. You don't know how your life is going to change after tonight.

Oh, cluck, I knew I shouldn't have so blithely given up television. Cluck!
Haha, brilliant! I did enjoy this a lot, mostly for Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton. But it didn't live up to Cranford for me...
Oh, I never thought of watching it online....doh!I watched it breathlessly last night, loving every minute of it!
I was not disappointed. To those without a TV, it is available for viewing on the PBS site starting today. __ The Devoted Classicist
LOVED it!! Those Brits just do it so much better - can't wait for next Sunday - I'm going to resist the online option.
Dear Daniel, I loved Downton Abbey, I knew you would too.
We've just got a new HBO channel on Sky here so I'm looking forward to Boardwalk Empire.
The other best thing that's been on British TV recently is Any Human Heart which you can get on DVD. It was wonderful xx
Dedilettante- Cluck no longer, 'twill be on DVD in no time, and then you can sing my much deserved praises.
Simon- You are right, Cranford was near perfection! Must re-watch that whilst Winter is upon us.
Architect Design- When the beautiful theme music comes on with the credits I'm left grasping for air and my imaginary inhaler!
Mr. Tackett- Thank you for stopping by! I really love your blog and look forward to reading it...
Quintessence- You're a better person than I. But if you're having a weak moment, I'll send you the link.
Christina- Too good for words. Will you believe I haven't seen Boardwalk Empire, I regrettably don't have HoBo (as my Papa calls it) but will get it on DVD soon!
Thanks everyone for your comments, this made my rather draining Monday!
intrigued!
ah, sorry for my fowl language. It indeed is available for streaming on PBS's website, and a happy am I.
Excellent. Saw it last night. Now there's a reason to look forward to Sunday evening.
Sarah- It's divine! You'll love it!
DED- Your forgiven, but it'll be ten Hail Mary's.
Admiral Cod- Wasn't it great? I would kill to even play a kitchen-boy for that show..
So you broke the law too, then, eh?
Glad you loved it. I overheard a couple talking about it in Le Pain Quotidien, deciding whether they were going to watch it on PBS, a couple of weeks ago. I marched right on up to them and told them they HAD to see it and they wouldn't regret it. Obviously my English accent persuaded them, and I'm pleased to say that they promised they would.
I never talk to strangers, by the way. But Downton Abbey makes you an evangelist for its cause! Best line? 'What's a weekend?!' - oh! to be able to say that seriously in the context of my life!
I broke the law and enjoyed every minute of it. I feel like I should send you a lengthy thank you note for sending me that link. Can I ever thank you enough.
I loved that line and when when she waves the fan in front of the electric lights.
And as SOON as you said Le Pain Quotidien, I started craving chocolate croissants. Don't know if I'll be able to sleep 'till I get one.
